Thank you to all those who have shared their thoughts on the Spirit of Tring event, following the questionnaire that was sent out to all online ticket buyers.
The below is a good cross section of the feedback received:
“I had visitors staying for the week-end, two from Yorkshire, which was their first visit to Tring and two from London and I booked for us all to go when I saw it advertised as I thought it would be something different for them to see in Tring. We all had a really wonderful evening and thoroughly enjoyed all the entertainment and thought the atmosphere was great. I have been to quite a few big name concerts and thought 'The Spirit of Tring' was on par with some of these and was one of the best evenings we'd had. Thank you all very much for all your hard work, it was well worth it -TERRIFIC.”
“I think the level of detail that went into planning excellent, e.g. the wristbands. It was not a cheap night, so realistically we would attend every 2 years rather than every year.”
“We had a fantastic night. It was hard to believe that you were in tring! It would be good if you could bring your own picnic in with you, and perhaps have a family area cordoned off as there were quite a few younger children there, who would have perhaps benefited from this particularly towards the end of the night when the drink had been flowing!”
“Would be worth reviewing the order of music - Soulfish great, queen great, just as it was all going up and up, opera chap came on and it slowed a little...would be worth looking at line up to see how end of queen could be used as the final curtain call.. by all means fit in mix of music, that was a good idea, just line up really to keep it moving with the same zing to the end.”
“I was disappointed that we weren't allowed to bring along our own picnic as I have been to similar events and enjoyed bring our own food, especially as we have children. We ate before we came along, although once we arrived there seemed to be a good range of food on offer - but it could have been quite expensive to feed the whole family. It was good to see the variety of stalls for local communities - there refreshments were excellent value. Overall a great night out. Congratulations and I look forward to the next time.”
“Fabulous night (aided by dry weather) - not too busy so it was a safe family atmosphere and the children (I have 4 aged 11-4) really enjoyed themselves too. Great to promote local community schools too. Couldn't believe we had been to a great do and could walk home - yes, we were in Tring!!! Please put on another one.”
“I just wanted to say what an excellent little event it was. The caterers were mostly sensible with their prices and the only thing I would have liked was perhaps a little more choice on the choice of hot food. Having said that what we had was excellent. We travelled down from Rugby as we wanted to see the Queen element of the concert specifically but I was very pleasantly surprised and gob smacked that someone who makes you want to turn adverts off was for me the surprise of the night and both funny, entertaining and a wonderful singer.”
“We had a fantastic time. Everything was well organised, big variety of food and drink and can't wait for next years event.”
“Because you are not allowing people to bring their own food and drink, you need to allow roped off walkways through the crowds to make it easier to get in and out for food/drink/other facilities. Actually I think you would be better to allow people to bring their own food and drink and then people will not need to move around so much. It became very annoying at points that so many people were trying to get through and walking all over your belongings. It was the only thing that spoiled the evening. Other than that it was a great evening and many thanks and congratulations to you all.”
“The relaxed atmosphere was wonderful. If there was a tiny criticism, it's that I thought that Soul Fish should have played longer as they really got everyone going; It was such a fun night, and our children had a ball!”
“I am sure the ticket price could be higher - as an early bird but old bird, my ticket cost only £9. I would have paid a lot more. I think it could have been more clear that we could bring chairs. I wanted to bring a picnic but having seen all the wonderful food stalls, I would be happy not to bring my own next time. The queues for food were very long but with experience, I would imagine the providers would allow for this next time. 0The music mix was brilliant with rock and classic - this really worked - an Abba tribute might have the same audience response. Fireworks are just a great way to finish the night. Happy to help in any way with a future event.”
“I cannot stress how much we enjoyed the evening and how disappointed we were not to have taken friends with us who we know would have loved the experience too. It was our seven year olds first concert experience and she thought the whole night was, in her words, “just awesome!"
“Going by the experience and word of mouth feedback around Tring, I would suggest that any future events be able to handle a larger crowd by anything up to 100% on this year. Congratulations to a job well done!”
